SCUOLA NORMALE SUPERIORE

The Scuola Normale Superiore (better known in Italy as 'la Normale') is a university higher education school based in Pisa and Florence. More specifically, it is a university institute with a special system, whose prestige in the field of research and education is internationally recognised. Proving the validity of this institution in the educational field, consider that two of its alumni - Giovanni Gronchi and Carlo Azeglio Ciampi - have been Presidents of the Republic, and three - Giosuè Carducci, Enrico Fermi and Carlo Rubbia - have received the Nobel Prize.

Founded in 1810, the Normale is the oldest university school in Italy.

It promotes culture, teaching and research in the humanities, mathematical and natural sciences, moreover in social sciences, exploring their interconnections. Scientific, technological and cultural challenges find here a fertile, open and stimulating environment where critical knowledge, scientific rigour and intellectual curiosity are developed. The talent of its students, the innovativeness of its research, the interaction with society, are the constituent values of its identity.
